Taught by Julie Rothschild, 706-372-4830

The Alexander Technique is an educational process that can help you move through your day with ease, balance, and coordination. When you take the time to think about how you perform an action, such as sitting, standing, typing, or walking, you give yourself the opportunity to move more comfortably and with less tension. In this movement class, we will learn and practice the principals of The Alexander Techniqe and apply them to our daily activities.

Julie is also available to teach private and group lessons.

Taijiquan for Vitality and Self-Defense

Taijiquan [Tai Chi Chuan] is a form of Chinese martialart. Created in China nearly 400 years ago for battlefield combat, it has evolved into an effective personal defense system and exercise system for health. This art is based on the 2,600-year-old Taoist philosophy of yin and yang duality/unity: the harmony of opposites creating the whole. Traditional taiji training builds lower body and core strength while developing integration of that strength, balance, grounding, and the taiji quality known as "central equilibrium." While many taiji schools have changed over time to focus almost exclusively on health, the Chen Style Practical Method of Taijiquan taught in this class has been handed down in an unbroken chain from Master to apprentice that has preserved the original taiji martial art, the profound health benefits of which are derived from the necessities of and structural requirements for self-defense.

Qigong for Health and Relaxation

Qigong [Chi Gong] is an ancient Chinese art of self-cultivation that fosters health, relaxation, and calm. Graceful, expansive motions serve to facilitate the flow of blood, lymphatic fluid, and qi [chi] through the body to boost vitality and flush out toxicity from body tissues. Visualizations and meditation focus the practitioner?s mind-intent inward and promote greater body awareness. Circular movements enhance joint mobility and stimulate the production of the body?s natural lubrication for joint health maintenance and rehabilitation. This peaceful practice relieves stress and offers a low-impact exercise that is wonderful restorative and preventative medicine for body, mind, and spirit.

Bellydance Basics with Jaidra:
Tuesdays 6-7pm

Each class will begin with a short series of exercises designed to build strength and
flexibility. Classes will progress through body isolations and dance
steps common to many styles of Bellydance. Focus will be placed on
proper posture and body alignment as well as fluidity of movement.
Short, simple choreographies will be taught as examples of how isolations and simple steps can used to build
a vocabulary of dance. Bellydance is a beautiful art form that encourages joy and personal growth. I try
to bring this philosophy to each class; varying dance movement drills with improvisational dancing and veil work.

Cost is 12$ drop in or $60 for six classes. This is an ongoing class, but drop ins are welcome.
(I am also available for private lessons)
